How the Free AEO Checker works
The grade comes from 22 checks in five pillars. Here is what each one looks for and how much it counts.
The formula
Score = points earned ÷ points available × 100. Grades: A 85+, B 70 to 84, C 50 to 69, D below 50. One AI writing call produces the Fix Kit; everything else is measured from your live page and robots.txt.
💬 Answerability
Answer in the first paragraph
Answer engines quote the opening passage most often.
Question-style headings
Headings phrased as questions match how people ask AI.
FAQ section
FAQs give answer engines ready-made question and answer pairs.
Quotable answer paragraphs
Self-contained 30 to 70 word paragraphs are easy to lift into answers.
Answers the questions people ask
Pages that answer the common follow-up questions get chosen more often.

Blocked bots cannot read or cite your page.
Indexable, snippets allowed
noindex or nosnippet prevents answers quoting you.
Meta description
A clear summary helps machines understand the page fast.
HTTPS and canonical
Secure, canonical URLs avoid duplicate versions.
How the Fix Kit is written
After measuring your page, the checker sends your page title, headings and text to an AI writing assistant with strict instructions: use only facts that appear on the page and never invent numbers, prices or claims. It returns an answer-first paragraph, five FAQs, question-style heading rewrites, a meta description and a list of common questions with whether your page answers them. Schema code and the robots.txt fix are generated directly from your page data, without AI.
What we do not claim
- We do not show rankings inside ChatGPT, Perplexity or Google; no tool can.
- The grade is not a Google ranking factor.
- Always review AI-written fixes before publishing.
Scoring questions
How is the AEO grade calculated?
Each of the 22 checks earns 0 to 100% of its weight. The score is the points earned divided by the points available, so checks that cannot be measured are left out rather than counted as zero. 85+ is A, 70 to 84 B, 50 to 69 C and below 50 D.
Which parts use AI?
One check, "Answers the questions people ask", and the written parts of the Fix Kit (answer paragraph, FAQ, heading rewrites, meta description). All other checks are measured directly from your page HTML and robots.txt.
Is my page stored?
Only the report (scores, evidence and Fix Kit) is stored, so the link and badge work. Reports are deleted after 90 days.
